THE URBAN FORUM "CITIES BY THE WATER" / WATERFRONT
The first urban forum "Cities by the water" will be opened as part of the Waterfront project. In the spotlight — the problem of the use of urban waterfronts and converting the coastal areas into comfortable social and cultural space.This year the project expands, the main venues of the Museum complex "universe of water" and "ОхтаLab", but invariably the Waterfront takes place in the framework of the festival "Nordic Weeks in St. Petersburg".
The forum will be opened by Vladimir Grigoriev, the chief architect, head of the Committee for city planning and architecture of St. Petersburg. In the various sections of the Forum will be attended by the representatives of administrations of cities of the Nordic countries and St. Petersburg, architects, developers and all who are not indifferent to the issues of the harmonious development of the urban environment.
"The coastal areas of the city are public domain. Usually they are managed and supported by the local authority with the involvement or the participation of the local residents. One of the goals of the project is to engage local communities in the process of arranging the embankments," says about the nature of the project, the producer Albina Motor.
The organizers of the Forum, Consulate General of Sweden, the Danish cultural Institute and the Institute for the study of street art, focusing on the issue for urbanists Russia and the Nordic countries. The Forum will feature best practices, methods and results of studies of St. Petersburg and its Northern neighbors. Cases architectural and development will proctoplasty more than ten speakers from Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Russia.
The representative of the Danish Bureau SLA (winner of the architectural competition of the Nordic countries NordicBuiltCitiesChallenge) will talk about the project "Soul of the district Nørrebro", supported by the municipality of Copenhagen. Swedish Kjellander & Sjöberg will present his vision of Sege Park in malmö. About "Iceland without cars" will be told by the representative of the office of DLD from Reykjavik.
