The creators of the multidimensional audio collages, sound designers, inventors style EBM and one of the most influential electronic bands in the world – Belgian geniuses of the post-industrial FRONT 242 will perform in St. Petersburg on 10 April 2020 in the club "ZAL"!
First record Front 242 emerged in the early eighties. Belgian artists experimented with electronic equipment and immediately wanted to create something unique. The basis for their music became a passion for sound design and sampling, the ideas of the English pioneers of the industrial sound of Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle, science fiction and the cold war atmosphere. Cyclical rhythms overgrown turned inside out and distorted unrecognizable sounds, which were taken from everywhere, where only it was possible. Voice samples collected from the speeches of propagandists, the telerobotically and horror films, began to play the role of individual musical instruments. This picture complements dispassionate singing of the original singer Jean-Luc De Meyer and the sharp cries of Richard MC 23. For their music they came up with the name EBM (electronic body music) and have actually become the creators of a new musical genre.
In 1984, Front 242 opened the European industrial sound to the American audience, going on tour with Ministry, which eventually resulted in a collaboration on a joint project Revolting Cocks. Already in 1987 the then popular Depeche Mode are so inspired by the music of Front 242, which invited the group on tour. Later on music videos and the Belgians worked the notorious Anton Corbijn. the band have added a huge screen that showed the original rendering for each of the tracks. By the early nineties Front 242 became absolute cult for all advanced students of electronic music and one of the best live bands in its genre. In 1995 he released a collection of Front 242 "[email protected]@ge" with remixes from Underworld, The Prodigy and The Orb.
Front 242 influenced several generations of electronic musicians, including Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and countless artists and entire labels modern techno scene. Today the tracks and remixes of the group has found a new life and continue their March across the dance floors of trendy parties with dress code black.
