Museum of art of Saint Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries offers the audience the exhibition project "the breath of the epoch", dedicated to the works of Anatoly Proshkin (1907-1986) — student and of each other Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, representative of the famous artistic dynasty, the father of famous film Director Alexander Proshkin.
The formation of personality Anatoly Nikolaevich, the attainment of the profession had in the twenties of the last century. It was a time known in history with the epithet "roaring", when the country was rocked by a massive event. Anatoly Proshkin was never a bystander in their thematic paintings, he reflected, and the construction of industrial giants, and the Great Patriotic war.
Being a member of the guerrilla movement, he knew about the threat of life firsthand, in between combat operations, he painted portraits of his friends — the brave and steadfast people. Some of these works, "living evidence" of the era, represented in our exhibition are not only artistic, but historical value.
In addition to genre paintings and portraits, Proshkin created the landscape works. If he went to the sketches in small provincial towns (Khvalynsk is the birthplace of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin) or portrayed the Leningrad area and embankments, it has always lyrical images of Nature and Architecture.
Anatoly Proshkin belongs to the Leningrad school of painting; like many of his contemporaries, at first he was fond of the French Impressionists, in particular the marches, however, he quickly found his own artistic language. His works are characterized by the generalization of forms, elegant and restrained colors, especially poetry.
The exhibition presents the work of 20-80-ies of XX century from the State Museum of history of St. Petersburg and private collections. Neither during the life of A. N. Proshkin, nor posthumously by his personal exhibitions are not opened. Our Museum organizes first.
The exhibition opens on 16 January at 19:00.
