Vasyl Diakiv. "Balance" in iicp

Museum of art of Saint Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries is the first in our city, a solo exhibition of Vasiliy Dyakov "Balance." The retrospective exhibition includes more than fifty paintings, drawings and sculptures created in the period from 1965 to 2017.
Vasiliy Dyakov was born in 1935 in the village Tykhonivka Kurgan region, but after a few years the family moved to the city of Chebarkul Chelyabinsk region, where the artist lived before moving to Saint Petersburg in 2013. Despite the fact that the artist graduated from the painting Department of art school, he began his career as a sculptor at the exhibition are four works of the early period. "I am a sculptor by nature, – tells about itself, the author, interest in the form I the original. Sorry, I could not physically continue to work in sculpture and continued to create sculptural forms in his drawings". Concise and expressive geometric forms became the basis of his graphics.

In different years, clerks have turned to different techniques. For example, in 1980-ies the artist prefers watercolors. Being himself a native of the village, he returns to the origins of a series of rural papers. His thematic compositions, landscapes and portraits are filled with a rare spirituality and purity. In all the works the author tries not to picture a particular scene, but rather to the transfer state. The artist borrows the colors from nature: green, grey, buff, terracotta – all of them create a sense of harmony, even of eternity. Continuous line, a minimum of parts, a schematic human figure – all that we see in later works Dyakov.

In 2000-ies the degree of generalisation of forms in his works reaches the limit. Lyrical watercolor tones alternate in contrasting colors. Recent work Dyakova without exaggeration metaphysical: plotless, outside of time and space – they show the essence of the subject. These works are full of drama and tension forms even in spite of the limited expressive means.
